Landschap in Perspectief:
De Wandelaar/The Wanderer

Curator: Nils van Beek
Artists: Delphine Bedel, Katja van Driel, Wineke Gartz, Dieuwertje Komen, Begoņa Muņoz, Robin Pourbaix, Bas Princen and Rob Sweere
In collaboration with SKOR and the Province of Limburg.

Marres Projects opens the cultural season on September 22 with a new project titled The Wanderer, which comprises an exhibition and five routes that focus on different perspectives on the Euregional landscape.

The Wanderer is presented from September 22nd through November 4th at Marres and is part of the long-term programme Landscape in Perspective. The project gives insight into the cultural and historical background of the phenomenon 'wandering', with a specific emphasis on the Euregion. It examines the various guises of the wanderer, such as the tourist, pilgrim, traveling salesmen, homeless, occupant or soldier. The exhibition also presents work by (international) artists, for whom walking is significant for the creative process. Five new (walking) routes have been developed for The Wanderer, which all show a different perspective on the landscape.

Route 1: Wanderschaft

The first route, developed by Birgit Bertram, introduces the wanderer as craftsman in relation to the almost forgotten German tradition of the Wanderschaft. This tradition is examined from a contemporary perspective in a route through the Dutch-German border area, thereby focusing on specific local knowledge and techniques. This route can be walked from September 22 onwards with a special walking guide, which is available at Marres Books.

Hoe het landschap vertelt

A glimpse of the dynamics within a collecting art institute
Can death, decay and blood indeed be so beautiful, almost seductive?
Consumerist excess and the fiction of economic speculation
Create or destroy
Every bird can only sing what it is able to hear
Health as common good and social capital
How to deal with this new reality?
is the idea of a school still grounded in the locality of a physical environment?
The ultimate symbol of godlessness
Trust me - I'm a designer
We'll be rich tonight!
Without a palace of glass, life is a burden
